Blog This!!

Adam’s new responds to everything is BLOG THIS!!

I think he likes the idea of me keeping a record of all the funny/crazy things that are happening in our 1st year of marriage, but on the other hand he isn’t so keen on the idea of me airing all are dirty laundry.
His new answer to everything is “blog this”. Whenever he does something funny/stupid he always says “are you going to write a blog about that?” My response is normally 'O' ya!
I hope one day we can both look back at the blog and laugh. I would love to one day place it all in a book and pass down to our kids. I would like to show them what to look forward too/The little things in life to just laugh about.

Grilled Caesar Salad

Recipe of the week

Just when the crowd thinks you're done with the grill, surprise them with this; the romaine's leaves char slightly but stay fresh and crisp. This is a salad that even carnivores can get behind.

Ingredients
2 garlic cloves
3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 tablespoons Dijon mustard
3/4 cup, plus 3 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan, plus shaved Parmesan for serving
3 heads romaine hearts, sliced lengthwise in 1/2
Salt and freshly ground black pepper

Directions
Preheat grill to medium heat.
In a blender, combine the garlic, lemon juice and Dijon mustard. Drizzle in 3/4 cup olive oil to emulsify. Add the Parmesan and pulse.
Gently toss the hearts of romaine in remaining olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Grill for 2 minutes, until grill marks appear and the romaine becomes wilted.
Remove the lettuce to a cutting board and cut into 2-inch wide strips. Place in a bowl and drizzle with the dressing. Toss to coat and serve warm. Garnish with the shaved Parmesan

Always read from Left to Right....

This might possible be the funniest story yet of our newlywed life. So here it goes....

Adam and I made a Costco run about a week ago to get a few household items, one of them being Dishwasher Soap. Everything was going great, I was so proud we only spent $197.00 for us that was on budget. We got home everything was great, tell the next day... I got off work so excited to get home (Adam had got off work early so I asked him if he would pick up the kitchen and put the dishes in the dishwasher) I got home and started walking to the kitchen to give Adam a BIG hug & kiss for doing the dishes......instead I GASPED!! There were bubbles everywhere all over my kitchen floor...!! I screamed for Adam and we both said OMG what happened? My first question was did you read the directions to the dishwasher soap...Adam says NO it was the same "looking" soap we have always got so I didn't think anything of it. (Ok I give him that; I probably wouldn't of read them either). So we get everything cleaned up and chalked it up to Adam putting too much soap in the dishwasher. So then yesterday Adam goes to full up the dishwasher with soap again....and by everyone’s supersize he takes my advice and actually reads the directions. The next thing I hear is “O babe you will never guess why the dishwasher really overflowed!! We bought laundry soap”...lol I start rolling on the floor. I ask him why he didn’t read the name of the product before placing in the shopping cart. Adam response was “I did it said ........... Detergent”. I then said in America we read from left to right...lol I leaned to always double check what Adam palaces in the cart...And I think Adam has leaned to always read the labels from left to right.

City Girl Gone Country

Adam and I had a great time at the Clayton Rodeo last night with Paula and Jeff (They were both in our wedding). We were differently out of our element but it was a lot of fun to get out and do something we wouldn't normal do.

Jeff's Mom....Paula...and I

Jeff on his ride....he did really good! Score of 64

Adam and I ....dressed and ready for the rodeo...lol (Sun dress/shorts). That's what happens when you take the city "foke" to the country!

Thanks again Paula & Jeff for inviting us, we had a great time!

Ahhhh...... Spa! Pampering

Sometimes the daily stress can get overwhelming; take some time for yourself …..Lock the bathroom door and place the Do NOT Disturb on the door!!
Here are a few easy at home ideas:

Coffee Body Scrub
Take the coffee grounds from yesterdays pot of coffee; mix it with unscented mineral-oil then add a few drops of vanilla...
Then rub this mixture into your skin one limb at a time. Relax in the shower for 10-15 minutes before rinsing off.
Not only is this a great use for old coffee that is most likely going to end up in the trash; it will also help refresh and unwind mind.

Invigorate your scalp
Mix 1 teaspoon of sea salt into a few ounces of shampoo. Gently massage the mixture into your scalp for a few minutes, then rinse and condition as usual.
Your scalp with fell rejuvenated....~

Avocado Mask
An avocado mask is perfect for dry skin
It is easy to make: mash the flesh of avocado with a fork, add a touch of extra-virgin olive oil, and apply this smooth, fragrant mixture onto your face.
This nourishing mask will supply your skin with a whole range of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and softening agents.

Ginger Lovers Unite!

I found this great information Re: Ginger Root in Good Housekeeping (August 2009). They found that Ginger root helped ease menstrual cramps just as well as over the counter drugs… (Other than vicodin). So what I plan to do is have a Ginger Lime Martini and that should kill two birds with one stone..lol

Ginger-Lime Martini

1 cup Ginger, fresh
¾ cup Sugar
1 ½ cup water
2 cups vodka
¼ cups lime juice
2 Limes cut into wedges
Fresh mint for garnish

Preparation
1. Combine first 3 ingredients in a small saucepan; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Strain Mixture through a sieve into a bowl; discard solids, Chill ginger syrup 1 hour or until very cold.
2. Fill a martini shaker with ice. Add ¼ cup chilled ginger syrup, ½ cup chilled vodka, and 1 tablespoon lime juice. Shake well; strain into 2 martini glasses. Repeat procedure with remaining ginger syrup, vodka, and lime juice. Garnish with lime wedges and mint leaves, if desired.

8 servings (serving size: 1 martini)

The Ice Cream dilemma Part 2:

Yesterday I text Adam and asked if he needed anything from the store? Here was our conversation:
Me: Do you need anything from the store?
Adam: Lunchmeat ….I think that is it!
Me: ok …see you very soon….love you…xoxo
Adam: O’ Wait I only have one bowl of Ice Cram left….wink wink!
Me: There are dishes in the sink…wink…wink!
Adam: They are already taken care of …wink…wink!
Me: lol….I’m laughing so hard I am crying!
Adam: I’m glad I could make ur day….xoxo

That has to be one of the funniest conversations I have ever had via text messaging….lol I have now learned the power of Ice Cream in our relationship. Needles to say Adam got his Ice Cream and I got my kitchen cleaned, I think it was a very far trade-off.

The value of a good friendship….

Since getting married I have really learned the value of my friendships. I now understand what my married friends/family were telling me about how spending more time with good friends can keep you from "going off the deep end" (no pun intended).
Yesterday Vicky and I spent most of the day just hanging by the pool. It was so relaxing and well needed.
Talking with her always seems to help bring me back to reality. I have always been thankful she is in my life, but now more than ever.
Adam spent the day with one of his BEST friends also; I think it was a well needed break from the everyday. Now that I am writing this I wonder what they were talking about.?? Hopefully he was giving Adam great advice about how to survive marriage…lol I have to give Adam credit he has made more of an effort to help around the house, and our communication has improved…Thank God!! Maybe spending more time apart really is helping our marriage over all!

Yummy Popsicles

Recipe of the Week!

I stumbled across this recipe on another blog and after experimenting with it once or twice, combining it with another recipe I found, they've quickly become a favorite around here.

1 pint berries (about 12 oz)
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/4 cup water
1/2 cup cream (heavy or light)
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 cup vanilla yogurt
8 5-ounce waxy paper cups or 12 3-oz bathroom cups
popsicle sticks or reusable Popsicle containers

In a saucepan, bring the berries, sugar, and water to a boil. Let simmer for 8 minutes or so (until the berries are soft and begin to break apart). The other recipes have you drain the berry juice, but I love berry seeds, so I left in all the goodness.
Layer the Popsicle as follows.
First: a few dollops of yogurt with a whole berry or two thrown in. Let freeze for about two hours.
Second: Mix about 2/3 of the berry syrup with the cream and mix well. Pour a little over the frozen yogurt. Freeze for an hour or so. (I let it start to get solid, but not so solid that I can't poke the popsicle stick in place.)
Third: Mix the remaining berry mixture with the lemon. Pour that on top. Stick the sticks in the Popsicle. (If using paper cups, put a tin foil cover on to keep the stick from toppling over.) Freeze for two hours.
Remove and enjoy!

Not going to gain weight after marrying my mate....

Last night Adam and I finally got the wii fit. All my friends were right; it’s nothing like a normal work out… it is really fun and interactive. You don’t even feel like your working out until the sweat run down your face…lol
We both got are mii’s set up and did our overall fitness tests! I was very nerves …… Nobody really wants to know just how out of shape they really are, but when the results came back I was in shock!! It came back with a overall fitness age of 20yrs old (all that $ for the gym paid off…I guess) Adam’s came back at 38yrs old. See maybe having a little meat on your bones makes you live longer…lol (let me live in my fantasy world) my goal is to get toned and in shape before starting a family… I will keep you all updated on my progress! Wish me luck!

“The Married Girl”

It’s kind of weird being the only married girl in my group of girlfriends. I love hearing all about the “guy of the week” and getting to talk about all there funny dates….But I would love to have a friend I could talk to about married stuff…Like...why do you have to repeat yourself five hundred time to get things done? And why do they sometimes only think of themselves…ugh!! My signal girlfriends have great advice too but it’s just not the same.
Marriage isn’t always cup cakes and roses…..It’s hard!!
Don’t get me wrong being married is everything I have ever wanted but I would love to have a sounding board. I sometimes feel I am the only person in the world going throw this. I would love to know it’s just not me and if the things I am going throw are “normal”…ok maybe normal wasn’t the right word….lol

Men think car parts ….. Women think SHOES!!

Just another day in the Life of a Newlywed!

I made the mistake on walking outside when Adam was working on our Volkswagen Jetta. I then made another mistake by asking him what he was doing. (For those of you that don’t know Adam is an Auto Technician) He answered by giving me a lesson on battery life and voltage (lucky me)!! Because I’m slow/ dumb about cars I asked why does your battery connecter “thingies” look different from mine in our Nissan Xterra?
Someone should have stopped me right then and there. He then started explaining to me why he needed upgraded “thingies” because of his sound system!! Just to let you all know a little about me I relate everything to money, so I then asked how much did those cost (and that is where I went wrong I should have just walked away) he replayed $50 for the right and $75 for the left…OMG!! When I said WHAT!! He said that’s nothing the electrical cords running from the battery to his sound system where $250 and $175. I then finally took my own advice and walked away thinking to myself I could of bought an amazing pair of shoes with all that money $$!!
I learned a lot from all this…never ask (What are you doing?) because you DON’T want to know.
…..trust me.

Huckleberry/Zucchini Bread

Recipe of the week!!

Recipe Courtesy of My Best Friend Vicky Gay
Makes 2 loaves

3 1/4 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1 cup vegetable oil
3 eggs
1 1/2 cup grated zucchini
3 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
2 tsp vanilla
1 cup chopped nuts
1 1/2 cup fresh or frozen huckleberries

Preheat oven to 325. Take out two loaf pans and grease lightly or spray with nonstick spray.

In a large bowl beat together eggs, oil, sugar, and vanilla until foamy. Stir in zucchini. Combine flour, soda, salt, cinnamon in a separate bowl, then stir into creamed mixture. Add nuts and huckleberries.

Bake until toothpick inserted in middle comes out clean, 60-70 minutes. If top of bread starts to get too brown during baking, place a loose tend of aluminum foil over top during last 15 or 20 minutes of baking time.

Cool on a wire rack, turn out of loaf pans, and slice. Serve warm or cool with softened butter and berry spread, jelly or jam, if desired

Double-take

(I hope I always look the same in his eyes as the day we meet)
One of the great things about being married is there is always going to be someone to love you even when your hair is standing on end and you have mascara running down your face—it’s so nice being so at ease with each other. But I do worry there is a fine line between being over comfortable and letting yourself go. (Maybe going to bed with prickly cactus legs and zit cream on my face isn’t my best look…lol). Adam always tells me I look nice, but secretly I know he loves when I get all dressed up and make an effort to look nice. I guess it’s about showing your significant other they’re still worth looking sexy for.

It’s been 2 months since our Wedding (where has the time gone)

Time has gone by way to fast; I really can’t believe it has been 2 months already. When I think back it really seems like our wedding was last weekend. A big Thank You goes out to all our friends and family that attended our wedding, it meant so much to Adam and I that you were all there to support us. We are just finishing up our official Thank You cards, I hope to have all 200 of them in the mail this week (I now have carpal tunnel…lol) Love you all!!

Part 2: Things your mother never tells you…

So Adam and I had some time yesterday so I thought I should stop by my bank and take care of switching my Credit/Debit cards over to my new last name (Anderson-Prevatte). I thought it would take at max 15 minutes ….O’ was I ever wrong. I even made sure to bring all the esencial documentation…Certified copy of our marriage license & my new driver’s license with my correct last names. The thought never crossed my mind that my name might not fit on the cards….WHAT!! Is Natalie Anderson-Prevatte really that long?? 23 characters really isn’t that much!! So my options where to remove the last E in Prevatte BUT they couldn’t guarantee that some stores wouldn’t decline the card since it didn’t match my driver’s license OR to group my two last names together!! So my NEW last name is ANDERSONPREVATTE (thank god it’s just on my cards and nothing else)…..Lucky me!! If this doesn’t qualify for thing your mother doesn’t tell you I don’t know what would, Stay tuned for more installments!!

Why do men act 5yrs old when they don’t get there way??

I am pretty sure I married a 25 year old man….But I could be wrong, the second he doesn’t get what he wants he turns into a 5year old brat. Adams inner child always seem to appear when I won’t buy him ice cream at the store…. Wow!! I can’t wait to actually have a 5year old child to see how accurate his impression really is….lol I really hope I am not the only wife in America having this issue. My re-accruing line to Adam is ” I’m your wife not your mother so grow up” It seem to work most of the time!! I guess the whole kicker to all of this is that it’s all over Ice Cream what a childish thing to throw a fit over.
I’m sure Adam is going to love to hear that I am airing all our dirty laundry all over the internet, but I really believe starting this blog is helping me vent about all the little thing that drive a Newlywed Nuts.

10 Signs You've Got the Postwedding Blues

You spent a year planning the wedding of your dreams--now what?

So you get married and a funny thing happens—you suddenly have tons of time on your hands! All those hours you spent planning the perfect wedding have become big holes in your calendar. Admit it: You kind of miss stressing out over which flowers to use in your centerpieces and goggling the best hairstyles to wear with a veil (ahem, while at work). Hey, it’s okay to be a little bummed now that the big day has passed, but here’s how to tell if you’ve gone totally over the edge.

1. You decide to turn your veil into a pretty lace curtain (and then secretly stand under it and recite your wedding vows when you think no one could possibly be watching).
2. You answer questions with “I do” instead of “yes”—which is driving your friends, family and coworkers up the wall (and it’s why nobody’s in a hurry to return your calls).
3. Your new favorite hobby is watching the raw footage of your wedding video on repeat while choking down on a slice of stale cake.
4. You’ll no longer leave the house without something old, new, borrowed and blue.
5. You host a dinner party re-creating the food at your reception, giving the option of chicken, fish or steak.
6. You’re planning the weddings of everyone you know who’s had a significant other for more than a month. Okay, a week.
7. You now call all of your vacations “honeymoons,” including when you’re just going home to see your parents for a few days.
8. You order your signature cocktail when out at your favorite bar—never mind that the “Lovetini” isn’t exactly on the menu.
9. You buy the chic paper lanterns you see at a flea market because they would’ve been just perfect for your cocktail hour.
10. You invite your married girlfriends over for a “wear your wedding dress” party and play all the music from your reception.

I thought this was so funny!!

Falling into the everyday married rut!!

Falling into the everyday rut….
I noticed that once you’re Married you kind of fall into this rut…. Monday looks the same a Thursdays and ect…. The date night seen to slowly disappear and you find yourself twitting your thumbs. I was so tired of spending my nights staring at the TV, I came up with a cheap Date Night List. From this list Adam and I made a pact to set aside one night a week as date night.
Date Night Ideas:

Farmers Market
Brunch (Weekend date)

The idiots guide to Newlywed Life!!

No one tell you how much stuff there is to-do after you get married!!
Marriage License……Name change….Social security card…..Passport…..Drivers License…..Bank Accounts……and all your bills and not to minchin all the Thank You Notes. The list makes me tired just looking at it. And whatever you do don’t…. I repeat don’t…… take the wrong copy of your marriage license to the DMV, I was really thinking maybe I should just keep my name this can’t be worth it …..Waiting in that line was crazy!! (Please like people have a copy of their marriage license if they aren’t married!!)
Someone should really write a book…. The idiots guide to Newlywed Life! (All the things your mother NEVER tells you)

Newlyweds Firsts

Funny how un-motivated I can get after one day of blogging!!
So this weekend I went to my 1st Baby Shower as a Newlywed, they should have of renamed it ask the only girl with-out a kids a Million Questions. When? Why? What are you waiting for!! After all those question I thought they might ask HOW!!
Who would have thought the girl with no kids would be the center of conversation at a baby shower!
I think if I get invited to another I just might have to polity decline and just send a gift!

Speaking of 1st I got my first look at all my Wedding Photos on Sunday … I couldn’t be more excited and overwhelmed all in one. Our photographer took 1561 photos of Getting ready, Ceremony, Reception, and After Party!! Now she is asking me to pick my Favorite 100 so she can finish making our photo album. Where do you even start? See what I mean about overwhelming!!

Wow, I kind of see my people are obsessed with blogging ….it feel really good to get this all off my chest and vent. I am really going to try and keep this blog up to date.
Don’t hold your breath you might pass out..lol
